Dumped Asbestos Leads to Public Outcry

Asbestos containing waste illegally tipped by a public path by Fairfield Park in  Stoffold has raised widespead concern amongst locals.

The waste was reported by Mr Colin Moon in April 2011, however last month it was reportedly still evident. “It is now December and nothing has been done,” he said.

“It’s still there, only more trampled into the ground. The area is used by young families and dog walkers, and they are exposing themselves to a potentially deadly killer.”

The landowner is Fairfield Redevelopment Ltd – the developer of Fairfield Park. Spokesman Dennis Carter said he did actually receive an anonymous report of dumped asbestos earlier in the year.
“I went to where it had been dumped and I couldn’t find anything,” he said. “Because it was an anonymous complaint, I couldn’t get back to the person.“If there is something which puts people at risk like that, we obviously want to do something about it.”
